We
are a family operation (pictured right - Drew, Scott, Anna, Shelly,
Kristina) located near Cedar Rapids in
Eastern Iowa (click
here for map). Our breeding program revolves around our
herd sire,
Doc
Freckles. All our broodmares are of Cow Horse blood.
We strive to produce top quality APHA Cow Horses, that will excel not only in
Cutting & Reining, but also be an All-Around Horse (rope, versatility, ranch
horse competitions, team pen, etc) not only in the arena, but also in the back
yard and on the trail.
Shelly enjoys competing in Ranch Horse Versatility Shows, Ranch Roping &
Ranch Rodeo Competitions, as well as Team Penning & Sorting (about anything
that involves horses & cattle!), but the rest of the family just prefer spend the weekends
camping & trail riding.
Heading our breeding program is our herd sire
Doc
Freckles. He is an APHA ROM sire in both Open & Amateur
Reining & Western Pleasure, & Amateur Western Horsemanship; & a point earning sire in
Amateur Trail & Barrel Racing.
One foal has been exported to Germany & she is a European Silver & Bronze Medallion Award Earner in Reining & Western Pleasure. Freckles a NRHA money earning sire (in the US & Germany); and also an APHA World Show Top 5 Sire.
We offer a small selection of quality foals each year. Our mares are hand selected for ability, conformation, & money earning bloodlines (daughters & granddaughters) of AQHA Stallions Powder River Playboy, Doc's Lynx, Peppy San Badger, Mr Gold O'Lena, Mr Gun Smoke, Lynx & Peppy; APHA Stallion Watchalynx; & AHA Stallions Pepi PASB, *Bask, *Gondolier.
Shelly has been attending the Iowa Ranch Horse Association shows pretty regularly & was named 2004 Champion Amateur Cutter on her gelding, Pepper. Freckles even made his debut in October 2004! She has taken Funny Face, Doc Freckles, Watcha Peppy Girl, & Powder River Lena to IRHA shows since 2004. Click on Iowa Ranch Horse Association to find out more!!
Freckles made his Show Debut at the October 23, 2004 IRHA Show with Shelly. They finished the day as Reserve Champion Amateur; placing 1st in Ranch Horse Versatility; 2nd in Ranch Horse Conformation, Ranch Horse Pleasure, & Ranch Cutting (Shelly missing her calf in Ranch Roping but Freckles did good!). We attended a few more shows in 2006 but he has been happily retired since then.
